  • Do we need to have our ceremony at a particular time of day?
No, you can have your ceremony any time of day or night that suits you both.
  • Does it matter what Religion, Culture or Faith I follow?
Not at all. The content of a Celebrant-led ceremony has no restrictions. We can incorporate any elements or rituals that are meaningful to you. Alternatively, your ceremony can be completely neutral, with no religious references whatsoever.
  • What can we include in our ceremony?
Anything goes! Hymns, modern day readings, pop songs and classical musicians. This is your day so get creative and see what you can come up with. Themed Ceremonies are becoming more and more popular. Think Game Of Thrones, Grease, Star Wars…..there are lots to choose from. The only limit is your imagination.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
In the unfortunate event that you need to cancel your wedding ceremony then please let me know via phone as soon as possible. If you need to reschedule your date then this can be done free of charge. If I don't have your rescheduled date available then I will refund any monies owed to you.
  • What does a wedding celebrant do?
A wedding celebrant creates a highly-personalised wedding ceremony, tailored to a couple’s personalities and style. The process of creating a ceremony is a bit like choosing a made-to-measure suit, or a wedding dress. I spend time with you, getting to know you, understanding how you are and the vibe you want to create on your wedding day, so the ceremony fits you both perfectly.
  • What if you are ill on the day of our wedding and are unable to attend our ceremony?
Although this has never happened to me, I always cover any possible scenario. If, in the unlikely event, I was unable to cover your ceremony due to ill health then TLC celebrants will ensure that a suitable, like-minded celebrant conducts your ceremony (you will be notified of who this will be). Please be assured that your wedding ceremony will go ahead as planned. Any documentation, notes, etc. that has been collated between us will be handed over to your new celebrant.
  • What is the TLC Belief?
The TLC belief is that marriage should be based on respect, respect for yourselves, and respect for each other. This will enable the bond between you to grow even stronger.
  • Can we have hymns, music or prayers?
Absolutely, we are happy to incorporate and can even suggest particular readings, hymns, prayers and you can have as little or as much of these as you wish. Alternatively you can choose not to have any religious content.
  • Can we have a family member and/or friend perform a reading for us?
Yes, absolutely! If you let me know, in advance, the name of the person(s) performing the reading (and the title of the reading) then I will ensure this is incorporated into your ceremony.
  • Is a celebrant wedding legal in Scotland?
Yes! Under the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977, the Registrar General can grant authorisation to solemnise marriages in Scotland to a celebrant affiliated to a religious or belief body, and who is supported by the office bearers of that body to conduct a marriage ceremony on its behalf. TLC Marriage Officers (Celebrants) fall under this category and are authorised to conduct marriage cermonies in Scotland.
  • What areas do you cover?
Although I am based in Glasgow, I cover all over Scotland.
  • Who can be involved in our ceremony?
That’s up to you. You can have a traditional ceremony where just the vows are read by yourselves or you can involve as many guests as you like to take part, by readings scripts, playing an instrument or singing their heart out! The more the merrier. At TLC we have lots of fun and unique ideas to get your younger guests involved. We can discuss some of these ideas in more detail at our first catch-up.
  • Can we incorporate handfasting, unity candles or other symbolic gestures into our ceremony?
Absolutely! I have been trained in various symbolic gestures for weddings, such as handfasting, unity ceremonies involving sand or candles, and many more. I will explain each of these in greater detail when we meet and you can then decide if you would like to incorporate some or even all of them into your wedding ceremony. If you have any unique ideas of your own then I'd be pleased to help turn your dreams into reality.
  • Can pets be part of the ceremony?
Yes indeed! They’re part of your family and the freedom to include them on your special day is all yours.
  • What’s different about a celebrant wedding?
A celebrant wedding is the most free and flexible ceremony you can imagine. The words said are all ones you choose, not ones that are imposed on you by a faith tradition or the law. With a celebrant wedding, you can have your ceremony anywhere, on any day of the week and at any time. Whatever your passions are in life, eg: travel, cocktails, dogs, dinosaurs, cupcakes, dance music, there can be a place for them in the ceremony. If you have a faith, or traditions from your heritage or upbringing, we can reflect those too. The final result is a ceremony that feels completely right for you and is a highlight of your wedding day.
  • ... and finally. Why should we choose 'Craig Hunter TLC wedding celebrant'?
I will simply encourage you to ‘go for it!’. Nothing is too much trouble and (even if I do say so myself) I am great fun! I promise to acknowledge your vibe and work alongside you every step of the way, resulting in the delivery of the most perfect ceremony for you both. I am 100% reliable, highly motivated to work hard and will always put you first, capturing your personalities and spirit along the way! 😍
  • Where can a celebrant marry you?
Anywhere you like! Be at the beach, on the hillside or even in your back garden. It's your choice.
  • How far in advance should I book you?
As soon as you have your date and venue in place then I'd recommend you get in touch to check your date. Dates fill up very quickly and sometimes years in advance so it's never too early to book.
